With the arrival of summer and rising temperatures, the use of air conditioning has become more frequent, leading to a peak in air conditioning-related lung diseases. Among them, Legionnaires’ disease is particularly common.
1.What is Legionnaires’Disease
Legionnaires’ disease, also known as Legionellosis, is a severe form of pneumonia caused by the bacterium Legionella. Legionella bacteria are commonly found in natural water sources such as rivers, lakes, and reservoirs, as well as in man-made water systems. The disease is typically contracted by inhaling aerosols or droplets containing the bacteria, especially when water is contaminated or aerosolized.
2.Main Patient Population
Of the reported cases, 75–80% are over 50 years and 60–70% are male. Other risk factors for community-acquired and travel-associated legionellosis include smoking, a history of heavy drinking, pulmonary-related illness, weakened immune system, and chronic respiratory or renal illnesses.
3.The Symptoms of Legionnaires’Disease
Legionellosis can be divided into two types, the pneumonic and non-pneumonic forms of infection with Legionella.
3.1 The Non-pneumonic Form
The non-pneumonic form (Pontiac disease) is an acute, self-limiting influenza-like illness usually lasting 2–5 days. The incubation period is from a few and up to 48 hours. The main symptoms are fever, chills, headache, malaise and muscle pain (myalgia). No deaths are associated with this type of infection.
3.2 The Pneumonic Form
Legionnaires’ disease, the pneumonic form, has an incubation period of 2 to 10 days. Initially, symptoms are fever, loss of appetite, headache, malaise and lethargy. Some patients may also have muscle pain, diarrhoea and confusion. There is also usually an initial mild cough. The severity of disease ranges from a mild cough to a rapidly fatal pneumonia.
4.The Cause of Legionnaires’Disease
Legionnaires’ disease is primarily caused by infection with the Legionella bacteria, which are commonly found in water and soil. The main causes of Legionnaires’ disease include:
4.1 Contaminated Water Systems:Legionella bacteria thrive in warm water environments, particularly in temperatures between 20°C and 45°C. Common sources of Legionella include:
4.2 Air Conditioning Systems:Especially cooling towers and evaporative condensers in large buildings.
4.3 Hot Water Systems:Including water heaters, hot water pipes, and showers.
4.4 Decorative Fountains and Water Features:Poor water circulation can lead to bacterial growth.
4.5 Airborne Transmission: Infection typically occurs through inhaling aerosolized water droplets containing Legionella bacteria. These aerosols can be produced by air conditioning cooling towers, by which water vapor can release bacteria into the air, which is then inhaled.
5. Frequency Healing for Legionnaires’Disease
Frequency Healing is a frequency therapy device that uses Rife technology, which aims to help manage various health conditions by applying specific frequencies to the body. With the use of innovative Frequency Healing devices, it can offer several potential benefits to individuals dealing with this condition.
Frequency Healing therapy provides additional support for patients with Legionnaires’ disease by enhancing the immune system, alleviating symptoms, and promoting cellular healing. The key to health lies in comprehensive treatment, combining advanced technology with traditional medical care. Patients should always follow doctor’s advice and treatment plans while using Frequency Healing under professional guidance to support their recovery process.
